Discover our
delicious story

At Tims Dairy, we’re proud of our roots and our values. Greek family craft, British milk and natural ingredients. It’s the story behind every pot.

We’re doing our bit to be sustainable...

Intro

At Tims, we are committed to achieving carbon neutral by 2030 and net zero by 2050, and have already reduced fossil fuel energy use by over a third.

We work closely with family-owned British dairy farms, all meeting Red Tractor standards with a strong focus on animal welfare and responsible farming. These partnerships underpin the quality and integrity of our ingredients and products.

We are also making progress in reducing plastic in our packaging and lowering our environmental impact across the supply chain—so our customers can choose high quality dairy they trust and which is made responsibly.

Responsible farming. Better British milk.

Milk

We source our milk from Trewithen Dairy and Pattemores, who use sustainable farming and responsible processing in the UK, to care for the land, animals, and future. Their practices support healthy soils, biodiversity, and high animal welfare standards, ensuring milk that’s naturally better.

Sustainability starts with a great team...

Team

We have a wonderful and passionate team throughout our dairy, who are not only dedicated to creating amazing yogurt, but looking at a greener future too. In 2018 we set up our Greenpot Team, aimed at improving packaging and reducing waste.

We’re over the over-lids...

Over lids

We were the first to remove plastic over-lids on our products, saving more than 11 tonnes of plastic in 2020 and every year since. We’ve also had a major overhaul on the amount of plastic we use in packaging and distribution.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle...

Recycling

In 2023, we proudly moved to 95% recycled in our retail packaging and reduced Electricity, Water and Gas usage per pot by 25%. We have also reduced food miles by changing how we source and distribute our products. In 2024, in order to reuse and upcycle our cardboard, we started working with Reuseabox.

Waste not, want not...

Food waste

Approximately 70% of food waste across the globe each year is perfectly edible. So in 2024, we started donating short shelf life products to FareShare, an organisation fighting hunger by redistributing perfectly good surplus food to charities across the UK.

We’re not perfect but we’re trying our best...

Future

We're now measuring our carbon footprint so we can take meaningful action. Our focus is on renewable energy, better energy efficiency, solar power, biogas, and further waste reduction. We're not perfect yet — but we're committed to making better choices as we grow.

Our history

1949

We are The Timotheous. Everyone calls us The Tims. Tims Dairy was established by our uncle Euripides Nicolaou and our father, Michael Timotheou, in a small workroom in London’s Warren Street.

Our history

1950’s

The very early days started in central and north London,  producing yogurts in small batches by hand at the back of a shop. Post war consumers were not familiar with yogurt, so at first we made natural yogurts and creamy milk desserts for restaurants, delis and cafés.

Our history

1960’s

All eight of us had to help out - washing the glass pots and sealing the fresh yogurts. In the early days, our products were delivered locally either by bicycle or our Austin of England van.

Our history

1970’s

To meet increasing demands we moved into larger premises in Haringey and Tottenham, London. Five-gallon milk churns were delivered fresh daily to the doorstep - instead of bottles of milk - which always raised a smile from our neighbours!

Our history

1996

We moved to a former dairy site in Chalfont St Peter in Buckinghamshire, where we continue to produce our yogurts and cultured creams today. Heritage, passion and skill are still at the heart of every pot.

Our history

2000’s

Since we launched our retail range in 2009, we’ve had a few different looks, with the same delicious yogurt inside. They act as a nice reminder of how far we’ve come, as a business and a family.

Our history

2020

We proudly launched our Greek Family Kefir - a milder, creamier way to enjoy a gut friendly favourite, made lactose-free for everyone to enjoy.

Our history

2024

A truly special year as we celebrated our 75th anniversary, with heartfelt thanks to our amazing team, loyal customers, and friends who’ve supported us along the way.

Our history

2025

We unveil our beautiful new branding, proudly cementing our place as the only Greek family yogurt and kefir makers using fresh British milk.

Our history

Now

We’ve been honoured with many awards over the years, including many Great Taste Awards - a proud testament to our craft and our commitment as a family business. We promise to deliver the best products we can, now and forever...
